The lie is never loud at first. It arrives in polished briefings, measured pauses, and carefully chosen words that ask a frightened nation to trust without question. If history judges him as having misled Americans, it will not be because science change, that is what science is meant to do, but because trust fractures when confidence outruns evidence, when inconvenient questions are dismissed instead of answered, and when transparency becomes selective. A nation can forgive mistakes made in uncertainty more easily than it forgives the feeling that it was managed rather than informed.
The deepest wound is not disagreement over masks, mandates, or laboratories. It is the suspicion that ordinary people were expected to carry burdens while those in power carried narratives. Once doubt enters the bloodstream of democracy, every future warning competes with yesterday’s unanswered questions.
Truth has a stubborn habit of surviving every press conference. It waits beneath headlines, beneath politics, beneath the applause and the outrage. And when the lights fade and the microphones are packed away, history asks only one question of every public servant: Were you honest with the people who trusted you?

Donald Trump Declined to answer substantive questions, invoking his constitutional rights more than 440 times in a single civil deposition in August 2022. At least a dozen of Trumps inner political circle pleaded the fifth including John Eastman and others questioned before the congressional committee re the insurrection.

I can see your point. This was inspired by Fauci’s hearing today. He said “I plead the fifth” over a 100 times.

I lost everything that made life enjoyable. I live alone. I have no family nearby. I couldn’t see my friends and I lost a girlfriend because we couldn’t see each other in person. I’m a teacher, and teaching from behind a camera was an absolute nightmare. One of the students at my school had a sibling who en ded his life on camera during class. School was closed for 13 months. Fauci’s ego ruined millions of lives. Life in prison would be too good for that man. The people who defend him can keep yapping their cognitive dissonance from their elitist, privileged bubbles; it just says a lot about them.

As a nurse who watched so many people die an agonizing death from COVID I find it shocking to hear those who whine about the COVID restrictions. Be thankful you are not one of the those who perished hooked up to a respirator. Or who like me, watched their mother in law suffer the most horrendous death after 3 weeks of the worst suffering I’ve witnessed. The unvaccinated that are living with long Covid so wish they could go back and do it differently. Your ingratitude for the life saving efforts if Dr Fauci is revolting.

I understand your perspective and respect your point of view from an individual who works in the medical field. COVID is such a controversial topic with information or misinformation splattered all over the media. My heart goes out to anyone who has lost someone due to COVID.
